re: This isn't just about radical environmentalists

This is about a broad spectrum of actors on the Left, and it includes the Democratic Party.

The Democrats have prevented oil exploration in ANWR and off our coasts. Bill after bill to open these areas, promoted by Republicans long before Bush was elected, were killed or vetoed by Democrats.

The Democrats shut down coal exploration in Utah.

The Democrats have, in the past two weeks, stymied oil shale work in the American West.

The Democrats, just a day ago, barely failed to shoot our domestic oil industry in the knees with a "windfall profits tax."

And of course, the history of nuclear power since the 70s has been one of leftist obstruction.

There are Republicans in government on board with this crap, but I can count them on two hands. Jeb Bush comes to mind in the offshore oil issue. But the current energy situation is almost 100 percent due to liberal policies.

Bush is the president, not God. He has little political credit with Americans now, and the antipathy toward him from Democrats in Congress and their media allies is almost psychotic. The latter will be spending the next year, and probably the next ten years after he's out office, trying to wreck him. At this point, Bush couldn't get a change in the America's National Official House Plant pushed through.

The reason you didn't hear that speech, or many other ones on the subject, is because Bush has been basically shut down.

Get a reality check: Bush isn't going to save us. There is little of him left after eight years of battering.

As for the future, Obama is a leftist, and take us the whole rest of the way toward rationing and economic collapse while trying to convert the greatest industrial society on the planet to wind power. McCain, I'm sorry to say, makes the right noises but doesn't really seem to have a handle on the subject. Depressingly, this seems to be true of several issues.

I have hopes for the private sector coming to bat to meet rising energy prices on the consumption end, but that's going to take time, and it still leaves supply issues.

People like Newt and others are pushing a grass roots "drill here, drill now" proposal. Had you heard about that on the news?

I have seen a lot of bizarre attempt to rewrite reality on this board, but I have to admit that "Bush not supporting the oil industry enough" has got to be a winner.
