We should shut down research and spending on solar energy since it's obvious that there's no way it will replace more than a fraction of our needs for many years, and will never replace all of them. Meanwhile, we are told "no coal, no other carbon power, no hydroelectric" and I guess now, "no solar on public lands." Good luck building windmills where the Elite can see them, too. When more than a tiny fraction of liberals supports nuclear power, you get back to me on that.
The American people have been listening to your side for a long time now telling us that exploiting our own resources is useless because the results are always years away, and that the answer is a miracle of renewable energy that, oddly, is also always years away.
"Twenty years." "Twenty years." Your side killed ANWR twenty years ago, and killed nuclear power thirty years ago. They shut down access to clean coal in Utah, oil shale in the West, and refuse to let us open the continental shelf for exploration while other nations like Brazil make new discoveries all the time. There may be another civilized nation that has shut off their own resources like this, but I'm not aware of any.
Americans are starting to realize these things.
This isn't about providing an abundance of energy for America for the Left. It's about power and loot. It's about hatred of the oil companies, and big business in general. It's about hostility toward private transportation and highways in favor of mass solutions. It's about telling us that the only way we can move into the future is by shutting ourselves down, not by building ourselves up.
They don't WANT us out of this mess. They want to manage it, and control it, at every level of our lives. Look at the things they've saddled us with so far.
You "manage" scarcity. You don't need to manage abundance.
Every last proposal the Democrats have made on this issue recently proves my point. Go ahead, make a list. Go look up "cap and trade, 100 percent dividend." They're not even pretending it's about the research any more.
And like I said, it's becoming obvious to a lot more than just a few people on the right.
Incidentally, the math in my post was based on median barrel-per-day estimates, and after I fixed the decimal, was correct.
