Rationally, I agree with you.
Lord knows that "absolute safety" is an illusion (don't get me started on those who rupture entire industries on the dangers of one death in tens of thousands).
But when the next attack comes, look for Americans to demand the same omniscience and omnipotence they demand of their government in almost every emergency, particularly in recent years.
And more rushed decisions.
After all, in WWII, we did just what you talk about--hauled off all the Japanese. And this wasn't done by a thug or a dictatorship, but a civilized political entity.
