You send working class kids to college and you often wind up with well-educated troublemakers. That's why conservatives are always complaining about leftists in academia.
You do those ungrateful little wretches a favor and what do you get in return? Surly rebellion.
The first cohort of working class kids to be educated was right after the War: that was the first wave of the GI Bill. And when those grew up and got their PhDs, they started teaching the next GI Bill generation, the Vietnam vets, everything they'd learned.
Then Reagan came along, and we were all turned into a nation of shopkeepers and real estate investment counselors.
With the sudden rise in college tuition costs, and the student loan racket, the universities are once again being turned over to their true Conservative mission, to indoctrinate the children of the elites, and to train those from the upper middle class who manage their properties and administer their enterprises. In another generation, they hope the problem will just go away, but I think that's just wishful thinking on their part. The troublemakers are here to stay, you just can't tell who they are by the way they dress, or how they wear their hair.

I think I know what the real problem is.
