Sarah Palin, when her selection was first announced, struck me as, not a serious choice for President In Case Of Disaster, but as an opportunity to put a muzzle on Smart-Mouth Joe. Would he beat up on a little girl at the VP debate? I don't think he would. His generation, his upbringing... nah.
Though, with her record... He might be able to hoist her on her own petard.
Abuse of power seems to be a serious issue with her. That's a fine thing to go after. I'm shocked, shocked! that the press has gone after the pregnancy angle. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
We've been a one-party country before, each time for about a half an hour. We are an argumentative people. The remaining party, like a high school clique, will choose up sides inside itself and go to separate corners.
What bothered me about the "permanent Republican majority" was my understanding of this part of our politics, with its corollary: the only way to create a one-party system in this country is to administer a series of litmus tests. . .
. . .and shoot all those whose answers are incorrect.
