Seriously....

IMO the average swing voter will overlook conflicting views on religion as long as the candidate professes to be a Christain or a Jew. They tend to forgive liberal positions such as abortion etc. as long as the candidate doesn't harp on it. They are also very forgiving of fundamentalist Christian views if the candidate treads softly.

She hasn't treaded softly enough for me. Her views on intelligent design and her mission from god seem too strongly held to get a pass from me as simply catering to a special interest group. It sounds too much like "Handmaiden". However, I doubt that most voters will be similarly swayed by her religious views.

I am not ready to vote for Obama but I expect he will win in November for reasons unrelated to religion. I will almost certainly take the day off.

If I am wrong and McCain wins, it will not be a national disaster, nor will it be a good thing. Neither party offers us much hope for a brave new world, assuming we need one.

Neither set of candidates scare the hell out of me but I am uninspired by the choices.
