... but the seemingly prevailing opinion of this board that she is somehow hurting the ticket by what she says is nothing short of high comedy.

Of course she's not hurting the ticket - not within the GOP. Her presence on it prevents a certain flavor of Republican from staying home on election day.

IMO, what hurts that ticket's chances with those who have not already made up their minds is: McCain reaching its top spot by representing himself to be a Maverick (Ford's replacement for the Falcon, c. 1969 - my dad owned one), while simultaneously bringing his policy into line with a party platform little changed from 2000 and proven time and again to fail, often miserably, in the last 8 years.

In other words, his choice of Palin is both the cherry on the Republican sundae and the last nail in its November coffin.

As for Palin's foray into foreign policy: I think it's time to update "the daisy ad".
