If I may...

I've been reading this thread watching you guys talk past each other. This last post gets closer, and now I see the problem.

Yeah, Palin claimed in her speech at the convention that she said "thanks but no thanks to the Bridge to Nowhere", but what does that mean? Did she order Alaska's congressional delegation to withdraw the earmark request? I don't think so. And as governer she certainly didn't refuse to accept the first $25 million of the earmark; she refused to give it back, in fact, and redirected the money to a different boondoggle.

All that she can really claim, as far as I know, is that once the earmark for the Bridge to Nowhere received lots of bad publicity, she stopped publicly pushing for it and ran away as fast as she could. Up until it became a national scandal, she was all for it.

You know: She was for it before she was against it. Her change of heart was entirely political posturing. Before it looked bad, she was as eager as any other hack politician to feed at the public trough.

BTW, the hockey-mom mayor managed to finagle enough Federal money to build a lavish hockey arena in her little burg.

Reformer? What a crock.
