"The wealth" is not all money, but we can't share it without financing.
"The wealth" includes building roads and bridges for everyone to use. "The wealth" includes clean water, clean air, and safe foods available to everyone, not just those whose personal money can purchase filtration systems and organic foods. "The wealth" includes allowing all of our citizens to acquire an education commeasurate with their talents and ambitions. "The wealth" includes certain basic preventative health care available to all our citizens, because we will pay for people's treatment one way or another unless we agree to execute the unhealthy. "The wealth" also includes the heritage left to us by the Founders: the Bill of Rights, and our will to restore those parts of it that have been hobbled.
We can't share this wealth without money to push the efforts to do so. That is the purpose of taxes.
If Joe the Plumber is worried about sharing that wealth, he needs to think about it a little. If we don't share the wealth, Joe the Plumber's got bigger problems: he'll have too few people as customers to be able to get any for himself.
