Thanks ER

Obama got 52% of the vote. We are still a divided country. I hope he can pull us together. I can do my part, however small it may be.

I realize now that we Republicans need to include and compromise with the Democrats. I see how important that is. I wish I had realized that 8 years ago. I’ll admit, until a couple of years ago, I played politics like it was a sport. I cheered for my side to win no matter what. Then I started to realize it wasn’t a sport. I even made a few post on this board about it. I wasn't going to play that game anymore. That was when I decided I wouldn’t be a partisan-hack anymore.

I started to realize it then, that we needed to work together and stop treating it like it’s a sport. But I still didn’t grasp how terribly import it was to compromise and find common ground until now…now that my ‘team’ is on the loosing end and can easily be excluded if Obama, Pelosi and Reid choose to. Now I clearly see that our country will remain divided until one side offers an olive branch, and meets halfway with the other side. Funny, when you are at the bottom, things seem clearer.

Obama says he will do this. He doesn't have to. He doesn't need our cooperation to get his agenda passed. If he truly reaches across the isle, he will have earned my respect.
