Where was all this outrage when "faraway Western powers" carved up the Ottoman Empire into arbitrary nations? Most of the countries in the Middle East didn't even exist as separate entities prior to that. Boundaries were drawn in places like England (look up "Winston's Hiccup).
Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon...there are many people still living today older than these countries are. All the result of a "bizarre and artificial concoction of a bunch of faraway, Western powers." This is when "Palestine" was invented as well as a distinct entity. Who ever calls these nations "illegitimate" because they were created arbitrarily by the West? And this was worked out only by Britain and France.
The Arabs didn't care because the inhabitants were still Arabic, and a lot of Arab power seekers got brand-new thrones to sit on.
As an aside, in more recent times, where was all the outrage when Syria occupied Lebanon for almost thirty years? Obviously, occupation isn't a problem when the "right" people are doing the occupying.
This isn't about "artificial nations" or "occupation" either. It's about hostility to Jews. It's that simple.
That's where this starts, that's where this stops. Everything else is smoke and mirrors.
