You state that even though you consider some questions "stupid" you will allow them to be placed on the space board, then you state that the mathematics in "Lorentz transformation" gives the answer to the question of, If "absolute zero" is the bottom limit for temperature, what is the top limit, if any?
In the original post it says that "The late Isaac Asimov asked the question."
I would think that Isaac Asimov would have been aware of the "Lorentz transformation" formulas, yet he asked the question, my question is why would that be?
You seem to be indicating that you are thoroughly familiar with the Lorentz transformation formulas, if that is so, then it should be a simple matter for you to explain what the highest temperature is.
After all the Habitablezone is “here to educate, and facilitate communicationâ€
The words “theoretical physics†seems to indicate that all such studies come under the heading “speculation.â€
If “speculation†is not allowed on the space board, then there are many threads there that must be removed.
As for my “contributions," to the “speculative†physics, they are as follows.
1) Gravity does not propagate it simply exists. The emptiness of a volume does not propagate but it can exists.
2) Photons can be absorbed and emitted and in such processes there may be a change in the photons speed, the change of speed would involve acceleration as well as de-acceleration of the said photons.
3) The derivative of a constant equals zero.
4) I also had two questions, which were:
1a) Does the "constant" represent speed, velocity, or acceleration?
I agree that there is a “constant†involved in the propagation of photons, but I question the assumption that it is the speed that is constant.
2a) I agree that the use of "C2" in the famous formula produces the correct answer, my question is why must the speed be multiplied by itself in order to get the right answer?
If the C is the limit to the speed of photons, then what does the C2 represent in the physical terms of length, time, mass†??
I would appreciate a professional answer to these questions.
Thank you

The whole thread (42 posts)
- A suggestion of mine for any theoretical physicist lurking.
- It depends on the density of matter.
- Is there no room for learning, differing opinions, even errors on the Space board?
- Limits
- I think maximum T is determined by the maximum number of angels that can dance on a hydrogen atom. (n/t)
- Total Codswallop
- Upper limits
- That should be 9.0 x 10^20 ergs / gram.in the derivation (n/t)
