Too young to remember?

When the Apollo 11 astronauts
returned from the Moon, people from
alll over the world congratulated the
astronauts, usually using the word: "WE!"

Some quotes:
"Thank you Apollo 11 astronauts! WE did it!"

"Congratulations, Neil, Mike, Buzz, WE finally made it to the moon!"

"Fantastic! WE reached the moon!"

Japanese, Germans, Frenchmen, Australians, Kenyans, Englishmen, Irish, Mexicans, Israelis, Arabs, Indians, etc etc etc, said those things 40 years ago as members of one community and one world, not as
different ethnic groups or nationalities.

For one brief shining moment, members of the human race said "WE"
instead of US or THEM or THEY or YOU.
40 years ago; do you remember?

It was the one time I recall that humanity, with few exceptions,
spoke as ONE.
