Regarding Katrina, as I recall, and I recall very well, the Conservative line on the HZ was that the Federal Government handled Katrina as well as could possibly be done. The fault lay with the Governors of the States involved and the mayors of the major cities.
Some of us pointed out that some disasters were too large for local entities to handle, that was the reason for the Feds to exist. Said thoughts brought on more lectures on the limitations of government and the importance of self-reliance. And now, now that a Democrat is President the obligation shifts.
Let's compare people without power but with shelter, food, transportation, families, pets and access to local emergency facilities (for those who can afford it) get along compared with -
people flooded out of their houses, vehicles gone, no access to medical care, no food, or personal possessions. Drifting from handout to handout, existing like the rats who have moved into their houses. That was Bush's Katrina. A few million of 'em.
I've been without power here for two weeks. 1979. A nuisance. There was nothing for the Feds to do - it was up to the local power company. Everyone went to work, and eventually school, found ways to take showers and cook. Being flooded out, house damaged and unliveable would be different.
Having said all of that, a pathetic attempt like this to compare Obama with Bush is the sign of very desperate, hateful people.
