that we tracked the 9/11 perpetrators to the GOVERNMENT of Saudi Arabia? What a straw man argument Tom. You know that you're once again subverting the issue to something that has no relevance. Those people acted alone as a rogue group of international criminals. They didn't receive government assistance from the Saudis to carry out their plan as would be the case if Iran gifted a nuke to some bunch like Hamas.
We had no stated policy in place with the Saudis that, if a group of terrorists that were born within their borders attacked a target in the United States, we'd retaliate against the country in kind. I am certain however that with every country that is a nuclear power there is a back channel assurance to the leaders of that country that no use of their weaponry will ever be tolerated against us or our allies without a massive counterstrike and certain death to their leadership and a massive part of their population.
I'd prefer that Iran not get the bomb but I agree that they have the motivation and probably the wherewithal to pull it off clandestinely and I'm pretty certain we can't stop them since isolating them has also lead to a deficiency in intelligence. However, I believe their motivation is not the gibberish spouted by their brain-dead President but instead because history has clearly shown that a nation with those weapons get moved way down the list of countries that others might want to invade.

So you're saying
The whole thread (32 posts)
- I need to get something on the record...
- Okay, let's discuss Israel's nuclear arsenal (n/t)
- I certainly never doubted it
- Be concerned...but don't worry.
- Actually Tom
- The US Government has said Iran is not pursuing nukes.
- You know I would not say that.
- I can guarantee I wouldn't have said that.
