You believe what you want to

but the simple fact is that it's not the easy target of the poor people with almost no economic clout that caused the housing crisis. It's the greed of the folks in the same bracket as my family and above that decided the way to riches was not to work harder and create but to take advantage of the blip and become house flippers. I've heard the testimony of numerous people in the real estate business that just laughed when asked if it was the programs designed to get poorer folks into houses and they all said that those weren't the ones defaulting. Those programs had strong requirements built into them to ensure that people couldn't get into them without real work and commitment.

The sub-prime loans and the buying and selling of those investments actually came later as folks started grabbing the inflated equity in their own homes and purchasing property not to live in but to make a killing on.

It was opportunistic and often greedy middle and upper class folks that blew the whole thing out of the water, something anyone with 2 eyes could clearly see going on around them if they were paying attention. My wife and I could easily have jumped into the mix but we've always believed that purchasing real estate was about finding a place to live and not buying just to sell.

That whole idea that it was the programs to put the poor into houses that caused the problem was a made-up tale by the right wing media and the Republican Party just as insidious as the Nazis blaming the Jews for the economic woes of Germany prior to WWII. That whole theory was widely disparaged by the very people that worked in the trenches of the real estate and mortgage business.

You should be fucking ashamed of yourself Steve for going down this road. It's one thing to have philosophical differences in politics but when you find the most powerless and weak of society and begin dumping the blame of your own problems on them, it says a great deal about your greed, fear, and avarice.

Every word you said in your post I've heard from the right wing hate mongers for years now. There's not a lick of difference. Are their villains among the poor? Damned right. They exist in almost the same percentage in every strata of society but you assholes will never acknowledge that. It's all or nothing with you. The blame always has to be on the other side and it must be total.

But just as all other fascists in the past, your time is short. It's unsustainable and, if you continue to push it, it will end up not only removing your voice from politics but move you and your ilk to the bottom of the societal barrel. Actually, you should hope that would be the desirable outcome. History has shown instead lethal ends to that type of excess. Those poor folks you keep pushing down further and dehumanizing have a breaking point and it's not pretty when it occurs. Go find a video of the Los Angeles race riots during the Rodney King era to see where it will lead. I myself would prefer a more peaceful future as would my children.

Sorry if I'm blunt on this but the time is up for playing nice because it's clear your side will have none of that. I had every intention of giving your side a time to rant and lick your wounds after your losses but it's gone on too long. There's too much at stake to put up with this hatred and bigotry anymore. I no longer care if you have admirable qualities in other areas of life. I no longer care if you raised your children up responsible and you pay your bills on time. The damage your ideology has caused to our country is devastating and will affect us all for decades. You can either be part of the solution to reverse those things or your voice will be rendered moot. I'm no longer asking.
