But here you're outnumbered.
Take a trip to Amsterdam and the endless stoned out of their mind kids everywhere is a sight everyone who wants to legalize drugs should see. That these folks are knee deep in other perversion and are the global HQ for child exploitation is not much of a surprise.
Your over-the-top solution of course is equally extreme. That's why we are where we are. To be quite honest, I suspect the west will succumb completely to drug addiction - already the doctors push prescription drugs on 1st graders for behavior disorders. Tons of women, and some men, are on anti-depressants and regularly increase the dosage. The youngest and weakest minds are being targeted by pushers - legal and otherwise.
The nation is in the state it is largely due to prescription malpractice.
Legalizing impaired brain function is insidious. It is like legalizing lobotomies. Most of these prescription chemical cocktails are liver destroying, brain cell poisoning combinations - and the world is paying a high price for all this.
Once they started targeting children under 6, I became more vocal in my opposition to the pharmaceutical industry abuses that started in earnest over the past twenty years. Poisoning a 6 year olds developing brain is criminal. The long term results are coming in from this doping and its not a pretty picture. Suicides, decreased IQ, rampages and, ironically, super-depression is epidemic. Longterm chronic health issues are emerging. Since the 90s, the west has been a big guinea pig for massive unnecessary doping.
Sure legalizing drugs will take money from drug lords and give more to pharmaceutical companies and the government. Both are evil pushers who demonstrate they don't give a fig about humanity.
And sure, crime will skyrocket, the GDP will plummet to non-existence and millions of strung out addicts will be slowly murdered by the government in free clinics, while the non-addicts cower in fear in their homes.
This issue is like illegal immigration. If the person you are talking to has a relative who has come over illegally, you are going to see the most intricate mental gymnastics justifying illegal border crossing. If discussing drug legalization with a former or current "recreational" user of illegal drugs - the same mental gymnastics appear, worthy of Nadia Comanechi.
