re: "ideas"

I want solutions so my children grow up in a world that isn't ruled by these fundamentalist authoritarians that are satisfied to have this huge division between the haves and have-nots. This is personal for me. My wife's a school teacher who's been beat down over the last decade by their attack on public schooling. Friends of ours have no health care coverage and are a crisis away from total bankruptcy. My two boys are prime age for being sucked up into some foreign war to have the limbs blown off of them. Those problems can be solved if, and only if that other side plays fair and engages in compromise and can see shades of grey in our national policy. They have shown no inclination to accept anything but their narrow view and will do anything to impose that on us. Tom is nothing more than a propagandist for that goal and I will not allow him to be unopposed.

Your solution for the haves and have nots is to take it away from the haves until it's "even" enough to satisfy those who have set themselves up as the authority on how much wealth a person should possess.

Your solution for schooling is to endlessly increase government funding of schools. Double it. Triple it. Results? Who cares?

Your solution for health care is to turn it all over the the government.

Your solution for foreign wars is to make sure only Democrats are in office. After all, no Democrat has ever killed thousands of our troops in a pointless foreign war.

The word "compromise" from a liberal? "Compromise" to them, like "bipartisan," means the other side doing exactly what they want.

Liberals may lose votes, and come out short in political battles, but they have never compromised one damn inch on any of their ideas. Their principles now are exactly what they were thirty years ago. Even the tiniest steps away from their positions are vigorously opposed. School vouchers, medical savings accounts, private retirement accounts. All examples of the smallest steps away from liberal statist fundamentals, and all crushed in the name of never giving an inch. Never allowing the other side a "wedge." Because, of course, conservatives are evil, authoritarian, and, of course, fundamentalist. A fundamentalist being someone who won't give an inch on their positions.

I have conceded I was wrong here on issues or facts many times. Have you?

You ranted on "hugely underfunded schools" and I pointed out that the funding had gone up considerably in the past ten years. Under Republican governors, come to that. But you'll post again on "hugely unfunded schools," won't you?

That's what pisses you off. To you, "talking points" are facts you don't like. All you can really do is call me names.
