Spending and deficits

Obama and the Democrats have fired off two spending bills in the first month of their administration that add up to more than $1.2 trillion dollars. That's twice the entire cost so far of the war in Iraq. Two bills. That doesn't count the $3.6 trillion 2010 budget itself, which Congress, run by Democratic liberals, has yet to get its fingers into.

The subject of spending and deficits is now a dead issue for liberals and Democrats. It's got maggots. It's like bitching about civilian casualties in the war in Iraq after Obama has fired a pattern of thermonuclear missiles into Afghanistan.

You voted for a guy who was going to be "something new." I even had some mild hopes that he wouldn't play true to form. Turns out to be a standard tax and spend Democrat, pushing legislation to give the government even more power. Big surprise.

Cutting taxes--the right taxes--would in fact help. Targeted stimulus, as opposed to the current grab bag of political wish lists, would help. Doing something that told businesses they would have a stable tax and regulatory environment would help.

Right now businesses and investors are operating under the certainty that they have been targeted by an administration deeply hostile to capitalism, and they know that in 2010 the missiles will begin to hit. Good luck getting any expansion of the economy under these circumstances.

Have you SEEN the growth assumptions Obama has in his budget to create a reduction in deficits? 3.2 percent GDP growth in 2010, 4 percent in 2011, and 4.6 percent in 2012?
