You've got a good point re Pakistan. Catching Ossama is not the goal, preventing Pakistan from going Jihadist is. If Pakistan can be persuaded to keep the pressure on those border tribes while we cover the West side of the border it just might work.
But what if Pakistan doesn't want to be saved? We need Pakistan to carry out logistic operations in Afghanistan, which is landlocked. And you can only bring in so much by air. A Jihadist nuclear armed Pakistan is a scary thought.
