Iran was the first democracy in the Middle East, UNTIL that democracy was overthrown by the CIA in order to install a brutal dictatorship which favored Western oil companies. It is hostile to the US for very, very good reason. Remember the reported $400,000,000 operation Bush has going to destabilize the nation? Have you noticed the US has invaded Afghanistand and Iraq, pinning Iran in the middle?
It is a relatively stable country which has raised far less hell in the region than the US or Israel.
Pakistan is a mess. Once governed by a military dictatorship, that was overthrown as being too friendly to the US. Then the picked candidate to succeed him was killed, for the same reason. Pakistan is on the verge of going completely Jihadist due largely to the interference of the US. Bush & Co.
