Jihadist Pakistan

The Current Wisdom is that it doesn't matter if Iran gets nuclear weapons, no matter how fanatic or radical Islamist the leadership. Deterrence will keep them from doing anything crazy.

If this is accepted as true for Iran, why is it not true for Pakistan? And the converse?
