re: Nature abhors a vacuum

"Whether your thesis is a conspiracy theory depends on what you're implying about the motives of those involved. There's no denying the existence of an international elite that meets regularly and quietly "works things out" among itself, but I question whether that's really because all those people are consciously working toward a "One World Government". "

I see little merit to unconsciously working towards a One World Govt.
I would say that they are consciously working toward a "One World Government". In other words, they see merit in such a thing and there are taking steps which they believe will result in this happening.
I would ask, how else could they expect to get what they perceive as a good goal?

I have no problem with people doing this. I believe people have the right to assemble and discuss all manner of things.
I do think that this kind of planning could easily be arrogant and one could possibly make many sacrifices on this altar would could be quite foolish. The damage related to this, is it could be distraction to more immediate concerns and ultimately more important matters.

Now, if wishes were given out, and I had a wish, I would wish them to be successful. But it's quite tall order and in the real world wishes aren't handed out.

I would say this is an "American conspiracy", and obviously the UN is one attempt in this direction.

I think to be successful at such a thing, one would HAVE to realize that there are at the moment fundamental problems with the UN.

So you are vaguely serious about a world govt, you should focus your attention on reforming the UN. If you can reform the UN and make it functional, and have it demonstrate it's competence for a significant time period, then that might indicate that such a goal is feasible.

If you want to do this on a faster track, I suggest that opening the space frontier could very well result in this.

But if you want interplanetary federation, any time soon, you will probably need to find some interesting space aliens somewhere.
