Right. We're seeing an example with China and the US.

Due to interlocking interests on a financial and manufacturing level, the US and China can no longer afford the older rivalries. Disputes which would have had carriers driving back and forth, envoys thrown out and the odd airplane shot down are now settled without violence.

As globalization occurs, as financial matters get more and more entangled there is going to need to be mutual cooperation on any number of matters.

Civil unrest anywhere will be regarded as inimical to the system, and if necessary well be put down regardless of local authorities. The whole will be more important than any part.

As globalization proceeds, the US will be less important. At first it will be less important than a consortium of entities, such as Europe and Russia, or China and India, but after a while will rank behind China, Russia, India and Europe.

Ah, the glories of globalization. If you enjoy living like a Chinese or Indian peasant, you'll love globalization.
