Yes.
But it's obvious it's something different than what they mean to you. For example, I don't believe civilization demands an all-powerful government that will control my life at almost every level.
There was a time in this country when some government hack telling citizens what color car they could buy would have been treated by normal Americans in the same way as the little old lady who demanded a law to put pants on all the horses.
But nowadays, I'm the loon for thinking there's something wrong with the government deciding this, or that it should even be considered unusual at all.
