Again, given that, why should the Feds pay for anything?

I'm not understanding this disconnect, unless we're operating from the simplistic premise "subsidies for what I like = good, subsidies for what I don't like = bad."

I could go through the Federal budget and come up with one hell of a lot of crap I think is less important than developing a reliable and large-scale source for American energy independence. if you bring CO2 into it, this irritation with Federal nuclear support becomes even more inane.
