So it seems, and so the questions must be: Who is encouraging? Who is allowing? And for what purpose? It all sounds nefarious and sinister, and perhaps it is. The knee-jerk reaction from some is to condemn "liberal permissiveness," but methinks we are all too easily divided and conquered. One only has to read a few threads on this board to recognize the utility of this maxim.
However, whatever the root cause of these social ills, I prefer to think that for every problem, there is a solution. There is no future in despair.
The first step in problem-solving is recognition of the problem. It's amazing to me that so many elephants can fit in one room, or that so many emperors can run around stark naked, but we should never underestimate the power of propaganda and the comfort of denial.
If the maxim, divide and conquer, is true, then it follows that we should work to find a common ground from which to battle our would-be conquerors. It should be painfully evident by now that allowing ourselves to be split into mutually antagonistic camps is not to our best advantage.
Thanks for your reply, Lindy.
