The root premise is that those whose greed got us here don't want to help get us out.
That's number one. The same people protesting taxes are the same who benefited from the disastrous policies of the later Clinton and entire Bush administrations.
And you are right - in terms of self-interest, many of us are better able to tolerate a Democratic disaster than the Republican disaster.
When the damage is limited to the lower 95% of the population, when the top 5% are protected from the consequences of those policies, I'm left out. Completely.
Then the damage is spread around and mitigated, I come out better.
It's simple.
And the minute a Conservative loses his or her job and benefits, you'll see another Democrat.
