Iran has a huge heroin addiction problem. Afghanistan is a major opium poppy producer, and Pakistan a major heroin refining and shipping center. I wonder how this might be affecting the equation. When you're talking about billions in profit, politics, religion and even national health and security issues tend to take a back seat.
