I'm referring to the Gates incident in Cambridge, of course.
It seems painfully obvious that as soon as Gates had identified himself as the owner of the home, that cop should have apoligized and immediately left the premises. Instead he was all offended by Gates' attitude and "tumultuous" behaviour that he arrested him. But since when is it a crime to be in a bad mood when at the end of a long, tiring day, you're trying to relax in your own house, and instead you find yourself confronted by a police officer who has NO BUSINESS being there?!? There's no domestic situation to investigate, and it's been clearly established that there's no break-in either. But perhaps an idiot cop on a power trip is so sorely disappointed that he has no one to bust - so he quickly comes up with fictitious grounds to arrest someone anyway. That strokes his ego and his machismo, I guess.
I can't say that the incident and the false arrest were racially motivated, but you gotta wonder if it would have gone down differently had Gates been white. Do police officers really arrest minorities in disproportionate numbers? - just ask any black or latino person you know!
Why are some cops such damn, arrogant jerks at times?

- Because they are HUMAN, like the rest of us. Humans are jerks. All of us, at least sometimes. Including me. (n/t)

- The police report
- Gates was obviously a total jerk
- Here's just one example proving that the cop fabricated his report
- "Gates told me the door was un securable due to a previous break attempt at the residence."
- Why would you be so quick to believe the contents of a police report?
