Who knows?
If you treat a cop with respect, that's usually what you get in return. That's been my experience and It's not just because I'm white. I've had white friends "mouth off" to an officer and their results were much different from mine.
At least when I grew up, we were taught respect for the law. But I guess that's a lesson lost for blacks who grew up during the civil rights movement. Still you'd think a Harvard Professor today would have displayed more maturity than that.
