Gates was obviously a total jerk
but the cop should have walked away. I have to believe that his motivation for arresting Gates was more about his own anger than Gate's disorderly conduct. Perhaps he was technically disorderly but arresting him was not smart.
If he had walked away there would be no comment from Obama and Gates would be wrapped in a black satin depression for being such an ass hole.
Bad handling by the police.
