Why would you be so quick to believe the contents of a police report?

Experience has taught us many, many times, especially when a bystander's videotape is available as objective evidence, that police reports frequently are just a pile of BS, essentially a CYA exercise for the cops involved.

I'm sure Gates and the taxi driver who brought him home have a very, very different version of events...
