Where are the footnotes, TB?

"pumped into Americans..."

"like food down a goose..."

"schools and popular culture..."

"steeped in collectivist ideologies..."

That sure sounds like a conspiracy theory to me...

Who are these people? What are their names? Why are they doing this? What's in it for them? And why is it you can see them so clearly and I can't? In fact, no one except people like you seem to be able to "see" them at all. And if it can't "stand up to ten minutes of examination", why hasn't it just gone away? Doesn't that tell you something right there?

Maybe the cause of the problem is something else altogether. Or maybe, there is no problem at all. Maybe our society is just big and complex and suffering severe internal stresses like any big and complex system that is evolving too fast, and you feel this desperate need to blame someone because things just aren't turning out the way you had hoped for, or in the ways that were promised to you.

If things really are going to hell in a handbasket, it seems much more reasonable to assume that perhaps the flaws are systemic, within the system itself, rather than in some external corruption invading from without, especially one that only the apologists for the system seem to be able to see.

The Romans blamed the Christians for their problems, the Nazis blamed the Jews and the Reds blamed the bourgeosie, but those systems were already in trouble whether or not those bogeymen existed. And nothing they did to persecute those alleged threats did anything to solve their problems, did they?

If you really believe this society is in trouble, it might be more profitable to try to find out what is it about it that isn't working, instead of blaming some outside enemy that only is visible to you. Maybe this civilization doesn't have a single simple problem that can be quickly eliminated and everything will suddenly be all right. Maybe its got a lot of terribly complicated and interconnected problems we're just going to have to muddle through somehow.
