Re: Just sayin'...

From one troglodyte to another :-)

The people that believe that the planet Earth was created in six Earth days TOTALLY misunderstand the writing in Genesis.
First of all, the word “Genesis” means the very beginning of the universe, not the beginning of the planet Earth. The word “heaven” = שמים shamayim = space, in scientific language. The word ‘earth” = ארץ 'erets = protomass, or the fundamental ingredient that the density of mass/matter is composed of. This mentioned “earth” is without form and void, therefore it is not the matter/mass that we are familiar with.

Notice that in Genesis 1:5 “And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.”

In other words, after the “light” was created there was no more Night, only evening and the morning. After the first big bang there was dimming of the universe and another smaller big bang, and such repeated dimming and expanding, evening and mornings, have happened six times so far.
So the Day in Genesis does not refer to the rotation of the planet Earth, but the time between the collapse and expansion of the galaxies, or clusters of galaxies.
Six of such “days” is certainly long enough to evolve all the animals, including man.
Naturally, this means that the universe is teeming with planets that have vegetation and animals.
At least that is my understanding of the biblical days.
