Your bristling indignation has been duly noted, and will be treated with the contempt it deserves. You have more fear of higher taxes and national health insurance than you do for the cavalier dismissal of all modern biology, geology and astronomy, indeed all rational thought.

These people are your ideological allies. You know perfectly well your politics, that is, what you perceive to be your financial self-interest, will not survive without them so you and those like you will do whatever it takes to see they are cultivated and pandered to. But at the very least, it can be said for them that they are sincere, and truly believe the nonsense they spout. You cannot make that claim for yourself. So much for principles.

Your position is comparable to that of the Catholic clergy in Galileo's day; not those who felt he was a heretic, those can at least be forgiven as merely ignorant. No, you are more representative of those who secretly believed in the New Astronomy, but chose to persecute him instead because of their political and career ambitions.

You are not a scientist, TB. You are just an engineer. Whatever works, do it.
