My brother-in-law has dementia and my sister will take care of him in home as long as she's able. Once she's not, she'll have to make hard decisions. If should can afford home health care, she would always choose that over putting him in an institution. It would never cross her mind to desert her husband in his time of need. The are married and take it very seriously. They just celebrated their 50th anniversary.
It's tough on her and weighs heavily but she never complains. This is the man she loves whether he remembers her nor not. She remembers him.
