That's great, seriously, but you aren't the one in the dock here. As a liberal Democrat, your virtue and generosity are assumed as a default. I'm the one who's accused twice a week of being willing to sell children into slavery to get a tax cut.

On taxes, people have to stop getting stuck on percentages.

Remember the Parable of the Widow's Mite? Goes like this:

...And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: for all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

God seems to be about percentages, too, which should be a comfort to a lot of people, but I can't help but wonder if the temple fed a lot more poor people from the large contributions than they did from hers.

People who rely on a government check to keep a roof over their head should be very happy that some people pay a lot more in taxes than you or I do.
