Space/Science » in reply to Lamar Alexander on the state of nuclear power in the U.S.

Nuclear Reactors Cannot Produce Power at Competitive Prices Without Subsidies.

With the exception of the USA, all other nuclear reactors are owned directly by their respective governments and provided with direct subsidies. In particular, they pay no liability insurance.

In the USA, fuel processing is heavily subsidized, waste disposal is FREE, and liability insurance above $100M is FREE (Price Anderson Act).

Nuclear power is dying the death it richly deserves. No loss.
