According to this story, and this spec sheet, it would take about 800 turbines of that particular type to equal one AP1000 nuclear power unit. If you used this larger unit, it would take 480 of them.
If I were designing wind systems, I'd be looking at designing something that is both a windmill and a power line tower. Might it be possible to retrofit existing trunk lines to add a windmill where every tower is now? Same right of way, no new territory needed, and the transmission line is right there. I'm no expert but I think the main snag is kicking the windmill voltage up to where you can feed it directly into a high-voltage line.
