The actual point, which seems to have eluded you, is that yes, it makes a difference whether statists or individualists shape a country's governments, and in a democracy where leaders are chosen by citizens, yes, political arguments and ideologies are important, and our individual philosophies make a difference.
A more careful reading of that post would show you that I put you and me on the same side of that line against collectivism and statism.
