Location
I've visualized it someplace like Breckenridge (southwest of Denver) in the Eastern Rockies. I've been there. I've also been to Ouray on the Western side but I'm not as fond of that area. Beautiful to be sure but it just didn't grab me like Breckenridge. Ouray is very rocky. Breckenridge has more trees (and a nearby forest). Ouray feels lonely. Breckenridge friendly. But my little town is smaller than Breckenridge.
I'm not sure but the Continental Divide may run right next to Breckenridge. I went white water rafting on the Blue River (alpine--brrrrr--cold water) which runs north, northwest into the Colorado.
