Re: Paper?...or plastic?

how the hell does it get there? I don't doubt that some garbage is dumped at sea but in my lifetime I have not been responsible for a lb of plastic in the ocean.

Our garbage goes into land fills (also not great) and I am not aware that dumping garbage in the ocean is acceptable for any State. Surely individual litter bugs are not casually throwing plastic items overboard in the quantity they are talking about. Maybe some of it comes from the experiments to see how many plastic water bottles it takes to encircle the world😁

If it is the ROW that is guilty of this pollution, I wonder from whence the motivation to write something that is not an indictment of the USA came.

In any case, if we are not the guilty parties the question of paper or plastic is not relevant here.

I am by no means an environmentalist but things like this bother me. It doesn't seem as hopeless as the Utube people seems to indicate. It is certainly a simpler thing that fossil fuels and can be solved by 1. not dumping in the ocean, 2. stepping up recycling, and 3. sanctioning the heck out of polluters.

I know it may be more complicated than that, but no one can make me believe that garbage pollution is anything like as hard as solving emission problems. AND, we are probably far more culpable for the former than the latter
