I don't agree with his firing.
He's been commentating of Fox for a very long time and just now they have a problem with him saying what he said? It was quoted out of context anyway. He went on to explain that he didn't think you should judge on appearances. It sounds like to me that they were looking for an excuse to fire him. I doubt if we know the whole story.
However, I do disagree with the Republicans' call to pull funding from NPR. Because it seems to have a liberal bent, they'd like to silence it. Pulling funding is tantamount to suppressing freedom of speech plus this is the Republican version of the state trying to control, control, control.
