Insurance companies already have death panels. The doctors they pay make decisions every day about what procedures they won't pay for.
I've watched 5 family members die in the last 15 years. I don't think insurance companies restrict procedures involving life and death. The do put limits on your total lifetime expenditures. After 20 years of fighting cancer, my brother had a substantial sum remaining for his care.
I can imagine denying procedures that effect your quality of life. As a former healthcare professional, maybe you can provide an example or two?

What bothers me is there is only one solution to this "problem" and to say otherwise in not being honest. Having the "conversations" initiates the enactment of the solution.
All I wanted to do was show that not all of the 'Death Panel crowd' were partisan nutcases.
