Re: Experimental drugs

There are true "experimental" drugs and devices, IOW, drugs/devices which are still going through the approval process, and those that have been approved but are still extremely new and damned expensive. I can't speak for Medicare but it seems to me a lot of their decisions are made the same way that they make them in the UK and Canada which is to say they limit what they'll pay for and are therefore making judgments that say, "If your life depends on this drug (or device), too bad. The system can't afford to maintain your life. Goodbye and good luck in the afterlife."

And I am NOT dissing Medicare or the UK or Canada for it. It's a shame we're not all so wealthy we can pay for our treatments no matter how expensive. But in this country and elsewhere, it is still the wealthy who will get the best care because they can afford it and the average Joe can't.
