Tried to update my wife's old Imac G4 800 MHz machine (the one that looks like a half soccer ball with a screen poking out).
I was going to update it from OS 10.4 to 10.5 to get her a little further into the present, and I spent about $170 to buy the software.
Turns out it won't install on anything under 867 MHz. There are hacking workarounds, but who wants to hack an operating system? I've dealt with recommended minimum system requirements in the past, but I've never had an OS simply refuse to install if I didn't meet them exactly. Apparently, for want of 67 MHz of processor speed, I'm out $170.
Of course, what I'd really like to do is buy her a new Imac, and head right into 10.6, but unless a goose flies over and drops a golden egg on my lawn, that ain't happening for a long while.
Well, crap.
