I don't see anywhere in the Bible where it says to sacrifice yourself for an animal or a bug. We're all part of a food chain with mankind at the top. And when we die, we go to feed the worms which are pretty much on the lower side which feeds the fishes which feed us.
Tell me if you were standing there in front of a natural disaster and had only time to save either your child or your cat, you'd choose your cat? I might but then I don't have kids. And I'm not liking people very much anymore.
