shapin' greens and layin' pipe in the hot sun.

When I was that age, and later, all the way into my twenties, the job for students wanting to pick up extra cash was construction. I worked laying asphalt on road crews, tying steel, rodbusting, pouring mud and as a form carpenter, and (my favorite) golf course construction. I must have helped build half the apartment complexes in Suitcase City.

In those days there were no foreigners or blacks on the job, just rednecks and hippies. It was tough work, but it payed very well. A summer's work with OT could get you through three trimesters, easy.

McDonald's, eh? I guess that's progress.
