I would have given a lot for a job at McDonalds when I was a teenager. I did field work at 14, and when I was old enough, graduated to the canning factory on 12-hour shifts. That's life in the Valley of the Jolly Green Giant unless your dad owns one of the stores downtown. There is a wider variety of industries there now, and the canning factory has moved to cheaper climates.
